ENTRY LEVEL SANITATION WORKER

POSITION AVAILABLE 

•	To pick up household garbage, recyclables, green waste etc.
•	Starting pay is $18.20 per Hour. 
•	Hours:
o	Summer hours are 4, 10-hour days per week.
o	Winter hours are 5, 8-hour days per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION:		Marcy Sanitation Department-Full-Time Entry Level Sanitation Worker
•	Residential and commercial pick-up, removal, and disposal of refuse, recyclables, green waste to include chipping and brush items, etc.  
•	Perform basic truck maintenance and repairs.
•	Operate heavy equipment.
•	Other duties assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
•	Clean driver’s license and NYS CDL License or permit (or obtain CDL within 6 months), must have at least one-year driving experience.
•	Drug test required per town’s policy; and random drug testing will be performed during employment
•	Must be willing to work in all-weather types.
•	Experience operating heavy equipment. 
•	Have the knowledge and ability to perform basic truck maintenance and repairs. 
•	Work requires physical exertion and the applicant must have the physical ability to consistently lift a min. of 50lb.s in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a safe work environment.
•	Demonstrate the ability to be a team player, learn, follow, and carry out work instructions in the field setting; and possess a good safety sense.

PREFERRED:
•	1-year experience working in a team environment 
•	1-year experience working in an environment that requires physical exertion
•	Town of Marcy Resident preferred; but will consider all applicants.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Section 104 of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York that the undersigned will receive sealed bids at the Office of the Town Clerk for ABRASIVES USED TO CONTROL SNOW & ICE ON PAVEMENTS. 
Proposals must be submitted on the OFFICIAL BID FORMS ONLY. Formal bid and specifications are available online at www.townofmarcy.org or can be requested from Town Clerk Office at (315) 768-4800 ext. 221 or via email to townclerk@townofmarcy.org. 
A certified check or bid bond for 5 percent of the total amount of bid must be submitted with the bid.
Sealed bids will be received by the Town Clerk until 2:45 pm on Wednesday May, 20, 2020 at the Municipal Building, 8801 Paul Becker Road, Marcy, New York; Bids will, thereafter, be publicly opened and read aloud at 3:00 pm.

HIGHWAY SHUT DOWN 
NOTICE
TOWN OF MARCY

•	Effective April 6, 2020 to April 19, 2020, the Highway Department will be shut down. 
•	Sanitation will continue to work their normal shift and garbage/recycling and green waste will be picked up as usual. 
•	During this pandemic, I am asking all town residence to do the best that they can to clean and sanitize their garbage and recycling containers for the safety of our workers.

I am asking residents to understand that the safety of the Town’s Highway & Sanitation Employees has to come first regarding your trash and recycling bins. We make every effort to place your bins where you left them; however, if your bin(s) are not placed where left, we apologize.  This could also be from the weather condition/elements (wind, rain, ice etc) and even more difficult to place back when we are on roads with higher traffic.
